About the Author

Julie DeHoyos was born and raised in Chicago, where she learned early that resilience isn't something you're given-it's something you build.

Raised by hardworking parents who did whatever it took to provide for their family, Julie grew up understanding the value of sacrifice, resilience, and perseverance. Nothing was handed to her. She worked her way through college, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and built a career helping others navigate some of life's most difficult challenges.

But long before any degree, title, or accomplishment, Julie was simply someone who kept going.

When life became difficult, she found a way forward. When the path was uncertain, she took the next step anyway. Those lessons, learned long before she realized she would need them, became the foundation for the journey shared in this book.

Julie is most proud of the life she has built with her husband, Danny, and their family. She believes that while none of us get to choose every battle we face, we do get to choose how we show up for the people we love.

She lives in Chicago, where family, faith, and community continue to shape the way she lives and the stories she tells.

The Fight We Never Saw Coming is her first book.
